Isabel is struggling through a divorce at the same time her friend's father, in his 90s, loses his wife. As a favor to her friend, she begins to check in on Edward. He is a fantastic cook and cooks dinner for her weekly. Over dinner they talk about everything in their lives and become true friends. These dinners help each other through bad times and Edward shares the wisdom of his years with Isabel and her life takes a turn for the better. Each chapter starts with the menu and while that meal is being cooked the story, and life lessons, are told. Excellent writing. Tender and moving.

Delightful memoir of 2 people one advanced in age the other half that age, who became very good friends. The type of friendship that's ageless. Of food, wine and countless hours of caring about each other in purely a unique way. Memorable!
