This is a Claire Malloy mystery. Claire's daughter, Caron, and her sidekick, Inez, decide (like every teenage girl) that they're fat. What they need is a diet and exercise program -- preferably at the new gym in town. Unfortunately, all is not healthy at the gym and Claire ends up, yet again, investigating a murder. It's full of the trademark Hess wit and idiosyncratic characters. Moms of daughters will especially appreciate this series, with Caron's constantly changing passionate enthusiasms and Capital Letter Conversation.

Slow to get started but once it took off I had trouble putting it down.

Witty, well-plotted "cozy" mystery from the Claire Malloy series
Bought at a library sale.
good series
Next in the Claire Malloy adventures. Caron and Inez try every diet known to mankind and gain weight while adventures center around the diet / fitness center new in town.
This was a good book. Inez's and Caron's dieting experiences remind me of many of my own. But this one was too easy to figure out who the "bad guy" was. Still a pleasant read, just not one of her best.
