Great book if you live in northern New England, particularly. I have used Dick's timetable and very practical tips all this year with my vegetable garden and have not been led astray. Things the other books don't tell you. Would be very adaptable to warmer climes, just mentally move the calendar to adjust for the later date of first frost. Has been a reference for me - like having a kindly gardening uncle.

An excellent overview of a year of gardening. Dick shows you what to do during each month of the year for a successful harvest, and includes pictures of what his garden looks like at every stage. Very, very helpful, even for the experienced gardener. It's like visiting a veteran gardener's plot every week for a year. Dick is heavy handed with the chemicals, though even to the extent of spraying pesticides proactively, which I strongly disagree with, which is the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars.
