This is a fascinating peek into the lives of Confederate citizens during the Civil War. Mary Boykin Chesnut is a brilliant, and quite an important woman of the Confederacy. She writes about the love, tears, joys, jokes, gossip, and news between the years 1860- August, 1865. Mary shares her inmost feelings and is very genuine in her writings. I have totally enjoyed my time travel into the old Dixie!
