This is a beautiful story and one of the best in this series.

Annie is looking for her grandmothers embroidered linins in the attic when she finds a box with an old diary, pictures, letters and an old record in it. The diary has 1943 written on the front and she found it belong to a 17 year old girl who was in love with a young man that went off to the war. There were pictures of him when he came back home after boot camp but no other pictures of him older. The diary abruptly stopped in December and Annie was curious if the young man ever came back from the war. Curious as she is, Annie just had to find out more if she could and she began asking around and the senior living center if anyone know the young woman. Someone did and she soon found herself face to face with the now much older woman. She found out the young man never came back and the woman ended up marrying another man. Annie kept digging into the story of the young soldier to see if she could find out what happened to him. How did he die or why did he never come back?
