A story that races with excitement. The information about mining diamonds is fascinating, as well as the complex relationships of the characters. Wilbur Smith writes believable story lines that hold your attention from the first page to the last. He does excellent research for each of his novels which gives them a depth of realism. He is one of my favorite authors.

This is a very typical Wilbur Smith novel, with great details about diamond mining in Namibia. Typical character development and plot, well recommended for fans of Smith.

Family drama and action related to owners of diamond mines. One of author's earlier books, which I enjoy more than his more recent novels. Good, fast-moving story of diamond mine operations.

The Van Der Bly Diamond Comany has been ruled to the death by its founder, Jacob, who has bequeathed the invaluable business to his son Benedict, his daughter Tracey and unexpectedly to Johnny, his estranged foster child and his most bitter rival in diamond hunting. But the inheritance does not come from paternal love, but from inconsolable hatred. To Benedict, Jacob has made an unyielding demand... destroy Johnny. Ruthlessly jealous of his brothers success,Benedict vows to pursue his goal, across the rolling ocean waters that hide fabulous fortune to the diamond rich seabeds in the coral islands of Thunderbolt to a fabled cache of riches waiting beneath the African earth. But as Tracey, and a long lost love, enter the fray, what unfolds under the dessert sun is a violant life and death struggle of greed, betrayal, passion and murder that could consume them all.
