Ever since the phenomenal success of "Jaws" authors have been trying t publish the next great "sea monster" novel and typically fall way short of the "Jaws" success. This author and his novel continue the trend of falling short. Now, the book is a fun read but falls short in a number of ways.
First, and it's a real stickler for me, the author was just pure lazy in getting info on weapons used in the book. Like a lot of authors Anderson seems to be fascinated in the Glock pistol as a choice of weapon and just like the majority of authors he fails miserably when he describes taking the safety off the Glock. the Glock pistols DO NOT HAVE a manual safety lever that can be moved from safe to fire. The firing of the pistol under water while plausible the action described is not.
Second, the terror (a dinosaur-kronosaur) doesn't really show up in earnest until the last maybe third of the book. Making only brief mention of it the author has it playing third fiddle behind other story plot lines.
Third, the author attributes logical thinking and revenge into the mind of the beast.
Last, the author has too many side plots to ever give this book a flow when reading it, it would have been 100% better if the focus of the book had been 90% kronosaur and 10% side plots.
But, it was an easy and fast read and I would recommend it if you're in the mood for some "terror from the sea" reading.
