I enjoyed this book immensely! It's magical and full of hope and wonder in spite of some scary, gruesome moments. I love Kipp and Bella! I want more!

Fast-moving and suspenseful, the man-who-got-away is the stuff of sci-fi nightmares. A super intelligent dog, part of the Mysterium--a higher order of dog--pairs up with endearing Woody, a high-functioning autistic boy. They, along with mom and friends, face off against hitmen, corrupt lawmen, billionaires with nefarious intentions. It's a race against the clock and a thrilling fight for survival. Bits here and there get bogged down with obscure scientific idealism, but it's a clever, entertaining, satisfyingly gruesome read all the same. 4 stars.

I guess I'm in a league of my own with this one? I haven't read a Koontz book in years and with this one it'll probably be more years before I try again.

Koontz writing has gone downhill over the years he used to write a really good creepy syfy story but this one? it's over your head and you can't even figure out what exactly is happening when you get to the halfway point, it has too much description that just takes up pages and doesn't mean a thing to the actual story so you can skip over that and no miss a thing except for when the sky changes color--boring

So if you start this book beware of the long drawnout pages of descriptions that mean nothing and the confusion of what it is actually about when at the halfway mark you still don't know

Any book that centers around the magic of dogs tends to have a place in my heart. This one did as well. It was a great cast of characters. From the lovable heroes to the evil villains. The "monster" in the book was immensely creepy. I loved the good feels, the exciting adventure and the crazy ride. There was a bit a cheesiness sprinkled throughout but a great book nonetheless.

If you liked Watchers you will probably like this. Koontz has said it isn't a sequel. Whatever. In my mind Kipp is totally a descendant of Einstein.
A little pat at the end, but a fun story.
