This is a rather old horror book, but actually very very good. I got it from a friend who was cleaning out her attic. I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Kyle Richards comes to the small town of Briggs City to be its police chief after losing his wife and daughter to a savage murderer who was never caught. While contending with a mayor who has uncanny power in the town and a tough-as-nails old journalist who tries to dig up dirt on his past, he befriends an old man who lost his daughter to a similar tragedy. What really took place in the abandoned, eerie woods on the old man's farm? Does it have any connection to the tragedy in Richards' past? Why does Kyle hear his dead child's voice singing to him from an empty room? Is she trying to tell him something? And who (or what) is this legendary demon called Ravana that the town's native Americans speak of, and could it be the real force behind the evil that plagues the small town? This book is scary, a page turner, and is very gory and gruesome, so be warned. Definitely worth a read, an old gem for any horror buff.
