Disappointed that I have to wait for the third installment to be released. This series should be read sequentially.

I LOVE this author! This installment was even better than the first, in my opinion. Definitely do not start this book if you don't have time to read the whole thing. You will not be able to put it down. My only regret is that we have to wait until December 2009 for the third installment.

OK, I'm not slow, but it took me three-quarters of the book to figure out how the title related to the story and once I did, it was definitely a head thumping moment.

Second book in the Ghost Dusters series.

Sadie Novak has a unique gift, she can see and talk to the dead, that isn't so bad, the troubling part comes in that her company is into specialized cleaning. She and her business partner Zack clean up crime scenes. Donning haz-mat suites they clean the fluids and grizzle that is left behind at every unattended death.
She can see everyone that has died, everyone that is except suicides and the one person that she can not see is her brother Brian, who killed himself and no one knows why, leaving a big hold in Sadie.

But in a strange way this is his story. It doesn't start out that way and we learn more then you every wanted to know about bikers (hence the title) and cults. But most importantly, we learn how gifts that appear to be anything but, can save your soul and make you whole again.

That sounds a little heavy for this very good book, but you really learn a lot more about these characters then we were introduced to in the first book. I certainly hope that Ms. Roberts continues on with this series because I'm definitely hooked on this ghost busting angle of hers.

I highly recommend.

Satanism, a motorcycle gang, and ghosts galore! Seriously, this woman is fast becoming my new favorite author. This series is so up my alley! They characters talk like my friends talk and I just love that. The main mystery is seedy and fascinating. We learn some really interesting back story and it seems to fit in well. Sometimes, when an author goes back to explain things, they can stop following their own rules or it will stick out in some way. That did NOT happen for me at all. I felt it was all very smart and it totally worked for me. I can't wait for more in this series. :)

Did you read book one? Well you have to read that first. Why? Cause you are going to be digging into the past. Yes, she stumbles onto so weird satanism, and bikers while cleaning up meth labs. The satanism isnt glorified, they are kinda cast as dangerous nuts. Add some ghosts that dont want to cross over. And she has to plan baby shower for her pregnant sister.
Roll it into one and you have a well written mystery, now on to book 3.

First Line: When she walked in, Sadie expected the sickening stench of ammonia that proclaimed the outwardly tidy bungalow a clandestine meth lab.

Former teacher Sadie Novak has a new career: cleaning crime scenes. Not your normal occupation, but Sadie does it for a very personal reason: her brother committed suicide and wasn't found for several days. Sadie had to clean up afterward. As far as she's concerned, no family will ever have to do that while she's around. What she didn't realize when she started out in this business is that she can see-- and talk to--the dead. In many cases, she can help these spirits on to the next step in their journeys, but when she agrees to help out a fellow business person by cleaning an abandoned meth lab, she encounters a spirit that's tougher and meaner than any she's ever run across.

The ending of Roberts' first book in the series, The Remains of the Dead, was totally unexpected and knocked my socks off. Although I found this second book concerning meth labs, cult rituals and biker gangs a little less engaging, it's still a good, page-turning read-- mainly due to her strong cast of characters and the information Roberts imparts about cleaning crime scenes. As soon as I learn the title of the third book in this series, I'll be standing in line!

I had loved the first book in this series and was eagerly awaiting the next story. Devil May Ride was the perfect second installment. This book was just as wonderful as the last. Wendy Roberts has again written a book with little bit of everything. I laughed, gasped in horror and amazement, swooned over Zack, puzzled over the mystery, and yes even cried a little. (It was that last scene between Sadie and Rhea that got me.) I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to do any of the above mentioned things. I'm eagerly awaiting the third book in the series, which comes out in December 2009. From the excerpt included in this book, number three looks just as entertaining.

This is the first Ghost dusters book i have read. I really enjoyed it.
Sadie is a crime scene cleaner, she cleans up the dead. She also sees them and helps to release them to the other side of life.
Sadie is cleaning a meth lab operation for a fellow cleaner. While she i cleaning, she comes across a large hidden pile of cash. She calls the police and they coe to remove it.
The bikers also arrive, before the police and wonder who she is and what she is doing there.
As time goes on, these bikes think she has stolen some money, They toss her house, and try to intimidate her.
She also comes across a crime scene that has a altar, and a sacrifice.
Laying next to the sacrifice is a very hungrey baby.
What is going on? Why do these meth labs have in connection to a satanic ritual?
Whn Sadie's sister i taken hostage for a human sacrifice, things heat up and Sadie needs help from beyond fast!

Very cute; I plan to get more of her books; good light reading and seeing the dead is a clever addition to a pretty decent mystery. Enjoy

I loved The Remains of the Dead. So I bought this book expecting to love it,also. Wasn't sure if I would finish it. I did. It wasn't as intersting to me. Main character(Sadie) kind of whiny baby. I'm glad I finished it.

Sadie Novak, owner of Scene-2-Clean, a crime scene mopping company, recently took up to clean meth labs in addition to cleaning trauma scenes.
So this time in an adjoining shed near a meth lab she's been cleaning with employee Zack, they find a newborn boy next to a freshly slashed open goat and an evil spirit claiming to be the mother that gave her body and newborn willingly to a cult.
At another scene Sadie finds evidence of ritualistic happenings and also a well hidden huge amount of money.
Sadie gets the sense that the labs are connected to each other without knowing that her dive into her brothers past brings her much nearer into the cults reign then she's ever imagined.

Devil May Ride is the second novel in about the Ghost Duster Sadie who because of the ability to speak to murder victims, gets deeply involved in solving the belonging case. Unlike The Remains Of The Dead, Devil May Ride couldn't keep up with the fun I enjoyed during the first novel.
I didn't find myself caring for the main plot but more interested in the story of Sadie's brother Brian who killed himself six years earlier.
In the end everything ran pretty much together but the end came fast and uneventful.
