This story is about three affluent Indian sisters. Two live in America and the other lives in a very wealthy coastal community in India. A secret from one of the sister's past is revealed and it shatters the superficial relationships they have with each other.
This book could have benefitted from some footnotes to help the various Indian references. While the book gives a glimpse into what it's like to be an upper caste Indian in America, it doesn't delve too deeply into issues of cultural alientation, identity and displacement. I would give this three stars. It's enjoyable, but not a book I would keep. It's not in the same league as say Jhumpa Lahiri's books.
