Butch Karp is New York City's toughest Assistant DA, and he's facing his dirtiest job yet--the prosecution of a group of Croatian nationalists responsible for the terrorist killing of a New York cop. It looks like an open and shut case, but now the FBI, Catholic Church and even the police are going to great lengths to protect the guilty. Why?

Not a great book got halfway and put it down. Liked Material witness better.

In September of 1976, five members of the Croatian National Freedom Party who hijack a Milwaukee-bound airline surrender to New York authorities, who want to prosecute for a hidden bomb which killed a policeman. Assistant District Attorney Roger "Butch" Karp heads the investigation, aided by his beloved co-worker, Marlene. Karp immediately runs into incredible and extensive complications involving CIA, FBI, Catholic Church, World War II, Yugoslavian, Israeli, and police cover-ups. Crammed full and sometimes difficult to follow, this is for larger collections.

This was the 4th book I have read of the series. I am hooked on his books. However, I think this one was my least favorite. There were way too many characters (CIA, FBI, NYPD, The Catholic Church, the Mossad, Croats, Serbs, Nazis... ) Also there were many plot points that are left undone.
It just felt kind of unfocused. I won't give up on Tanenbaum yet, though. I'll definitely read a few more, and hope that he can redeem himself.

I have begun this series from the beginning. This is book 2 and the adventures keep happening. As well, more information on the regular characters is added, building up real people in my imagination. I also like the humor.
