I happened to catch the live broadcast of Terry Anderson's first press conference after his release. I was so impressed with how high his spirits were and how functional he seemed after so long in captivity (for those who don't know, he was kidnapped in Beruit in 1985 and held hostage for 7 years.) While the book doesn't quite capture the spirit he showed in that press conference, it still well worth reading, and forces the question "how would I do in such circumstances?"

Terry Anderson manages to convey the horrors and boredom of his capacity in a way that is neither horrific nor boring. I could have passed on his poetry but I was engrossed in the story of how he survived his captivity with his mental and emotional faculties relatively intact.

An amazing story of survival and triumph over his captors and the isolation and difficulties Terry Anderson managed to come through. Best book since I read about John McCain in Vietnamese prison camps many years ago. I could barely lay this book down, it kept me so bound up in his situation. I highly recommend this book. Very inspiring!
