Hodgell advances Jame's story with her return to Tai-Tastigon. Do not try to pick this series up anywhere except the first book. In fact, so much of this entry goes back to GOD STALK that if you don't remember it well, you might get a little lost (as I did). Jame gets a big insight into why the her people are getting chased out of world after world. Most of the book is Jame bouncing from chaos to chaos scene in Tai-Tastigon, although there are a few switches back to Marc or Brier in Tagmeth. One of the things I find confusing in this series, and very much so in this particular entry, is that the dead are not dead. Unless someone's gathered up all their bones and burnt them, they can pop back into the story at pretty much any spot either as spirits possessing another person or even as physical beings; truthfully this is one of my problems with the whole series as I can't keep straight who's dead. No Tori and no Kindrie this time, perhaps next time.
