Deliverance
Author: James Dickey
Four solid citizens of suburbia go canoeing down a wild North Georgia river. Two are waylaid, forced to sodomy at shotgun point by two degraded but believable mountaineers. Their companions kill one with an arrow meant for a deer. Four men caught in a primitive and violent test of manhood.

Absolutely delivers! If you liked the movie, you will LOVE the book. Dickey keeps you riveted with his disturbing tale of a canoe trip gone bad.

Wow! Wonderful writing, I was halfway through the book in an instant. This is the epitome of an outdoor adventure gone wrong. But, it is well written and a great read!

I read this book quite a few years ago and remember it vividly. The review that I quoted from the back cover is really correct!! The movie that was made from it is just about as frightening as the book.
