This is a wonderful story by Johanna Lindsey. Knight's and their Ladies, young lads, and, gasp, Theo. Rereading it, I found I love the hidden conflict in the beginning, of knowing who 'Lord Richard' really is, and all the rest of the characters are vividly portaited.
Well worth the time and money (or credit).
As for the covers, all reprints, (and this one is) always have different covers, which is a shame, because the original drool-worthy cover used model Fabio for the golden knight Ranulf.

Lindsey's book are always enjoyable and this was no exception.
Johanna Lindsey has amazed me yet again with such a wonderful love story.
Johanna Lindsey is one of my favorite authors, great read.
Typical Johanna Lindsey - fantastic!!!
Young heroine grows into her role as lady of the manor in trials by fire. Set in 12th century England, yummy Viking hero.
A well written love story, based in 1192 England. Reina is kidnapped from her home to be forced to wed Lord Rothwell. His evil reputation makes her determined to get her capture to marry her himself rather than turn her over to the man that hired him.
I have all her books in hard back but 2, There is nothing better on a rainy night than a warm cosy fire and a Johanna Lidsey Book. They are must reads all of them over and over again.
Not your typical Knight & armor, this is more about the relationship between the two main characters. Really a great read.
Reina seethes with rage over her fate:
taken captive by the knight Ranulf-a golden giant of a man-who has pledged to deliver her to the nuptial bed of the despised Lord Rothwell. She will never accept such bondage-and Reina offers herself to her kidnapper instead, offering to make Ranulf a great lord...if he agrees to wed her.
But the brave knight desires much more than a marriage of convenience from this proud, headstrong lady who treats him with scorn yet makes his blood run hotter than liquid fire. She must come to him of her own free will-or Ranulf will take her. For the passion that consumes them both cannot long be denied-even though gravest peril surely awaits them on the hearts trail to a destined and turbulant love...
This is a good book. If you like historical romance, you really can\'t do any better than Johanna Lindsey. They\'re all winners.

This book has a different cover but everything about it is the same as the newer printing. There's a couple kinda spooning up on the cover of this one...love this author!
Mine has a slightly different cover, there is a woman and man together.
A Romance novel from the Middle Ages.
I am a big fan of Johanna Lindsey, so needless to say I enjoyed Defy Not the Heart.
Reia's cerulean eyes blazed with scorn as they fell upon the golden giant of a man before her. This was the knight Ranulf, her kidnapper, who was pledged to deliver her into the worst kind of bondage-arriage to the craven Lord Rothwell.
This book has the older cover.
