Helpful Score: 1
Good book. I thought it had a good storyline, just enough sex to keep it interesting, but not overtake the book.
Good read, believable characters and steamy sex. I really enjoyed it!
This series is hard to number. Deep Trouble anthologizes The Beach Alibi [#4 in the original releases] and The Mackenzie Artifact [#5 in the original releases].Since In Danger anthologized The Shaughnessey Accord [#2 in the original releases] and The Samms Agenda [#3 in the original releases], this is #3 or #4 and #5 depending how you're counting...
To my mind, The Beach Alibi is the weakest of the SG5 books I've read. I thought the premise was silly and unbelievable, creating an 'alibi' by snuggling up to a girlfriend all over town to 'prove' he wasn't the person SPECTRA IT saw break into the offices of a diamond merchant. Like they're going to check? Bad guys act first and discuss later... Best thing about it was the reappearance of the enigmatic Ezra introduced in The Samms Agenda. Good guy undercover? Bad guy? Someone with own agenda apparently...
On the other hand, I liked the Mackenzie Artifact a lot. It had more action and more believable moves. The plot had our hero [along with another agent] undercover in Mexico working for a SPECTRA white slavery ring. Our heroine is trying to break up the ring and rescue the girls so she poisons the obvious roadblock to that plan, Eli. Eli has to take time off to recover from the poisoning, leaving time for the heroine to be captured and throw into the cage with the other girls. So now Eli has one more to rescue, one who has become very important to him in the short time he has been back...
