This is a well written account of what it is like to be an undercover agent. The author doesn't waste alot of time on characterizations or background, he just keeps the excitement in the present and gives you enough detail so you can actually "learn" something about this dark and risky lifestyle. The dialogue between the agents is quick, clean, and intelligent. Donnie's dialogue and interactions with the various residents of the Florida Everglades emphasizes his quick wit and humor.

Based in reality. (Every bad thing you ever thought about The Mafia is correct.) We owe the real "Donnie Brasco" the same debt we owe to military heros. He put himself in harms' way to protect us from the human scum that prey upon our weaknesses. Not just entertaining, but educational as well. A good read.

The picture does not match the book. It is the Donnie Brasco book. It was a movie with Johnny Depp - loved it!
