It was hard for me to get into this one at first with all the designer name-dropping, self-centered characters, etc. I was glad I kept going. This book is HILARIOUS. Can't wait to see what else she writes!!
Not exactly Austen or Woolf but fun, fanciful chicklit. I loved Bergdorf Blondes and Plum Sykes' works in Vogue. I really want someone to pay me to shop for wedding lingerie, custom Burberry trenches with cashmere lining and designer furnishings!
This is Plum Sykes's second novel. I don't think it was quite as good as Bergdorf Blondes, but I still enjoyed it. It's a light, fast read, which Sykes is starting to be known for.

I've started this book a couple times now. I was told this book was really good - but I am having a hard time getting into it. Maybe the next time it will seem more interesting.
If you liked Bergdorf blondes you will definitly like this one b/c they have the same type of characters (Full of rich flakey globe-hopping-designer-label-wearing women that appear shallow on the surface but really deep down have big hearts and bleed just like the rest of us...in this book the focus is on the lives of confirmed permenant divorcee Lauren Blount and her best friend newly married Sylvie Mortimer. Lauren preaches the luxuries of being divorced (ie being able to spend your money, your "man of the moment's money" (the richer the better) and basically not having to answer to anyone or be anywhere or do anything other than 100% what you want want to do...who wouldnt want that life??? to lauren love doesnt exist which is why she is constantly tyring to recruit new divorcees
Sylvie on the other hand is a newlywed and swears by true love, monogomy, and her marriage... However, over the course of the book both of these women experience many bumps in their love lives and begin to question if their confirmed way of life (ie divorced life/married life) is really as wonderful as they say it is....In the end they both learn a few valuable lessons about life & love, and begin to question some of their set in stone opinions about relationships with the opposite sex...and ultimitly they find themselves doing things the swore they would never do
Again all i can say is loved it loved it loved it!!
