This is a great premise for a series. I like that it has a similar "serial" feel that The Green Mile had when it was released. Each book is short, just under 200 pages.

The story takes place in the future. The central character, Chuck, is one of the most powerful telekinetics on the planet. A shady government agency is after him to train him as an assassin. As a pacifist, he doesn't want to kill people for a living. Each story has Chuck on the run from the government trying to stay under the radar and not get captured. His only companion is a giant dog named Rasputin that he can communicate with telepathically. Very intriguing story premise and Peter David's fun and humorous writing style is evident throughout.

However, this particular book, the second in the series, is not quite as strong as the other entries. The story involves environmental terrorists and Chuck getting caught in the middle of one of their demolitions. It's a quick but less than satisfying read. I would recommend skipping it and moving on to book three unless you are a series completist. The other books more than make up for this one.
