This is the first in the Daisy Dalrymple series which takes place in the 20's in England. Daisy is a flapper and would be journalist and is a really fun character.

and I can't wait to read more! Determined to be free of class distinctions that only allow her to marry or be a poor relative taken care of by others, Daisy Dalrymple is determined to be both a lady and a magazine writer in an age when women working is barely tolerated (especially if she is from the higher social strata--and in spite of being impoverished). And she proves to have brains!
I have no excuse for not having found this series before, but it has earned a place on my keeper shelf.

A couple years ago I read one of the books in this series and liked it. I ran across this first in the series on my Reminder List and decided to start at the beginning. This is a great beginning to the series, I found myself liking the main characters and wanting to know more about them. As far as the "who done it" goes, I was kept geussing until near the end, and then I wasn't sure it was really true. Looking forward to reading this entire series.

love this book and the entire series. Nice mysteries along with Daisy's budding love life without graphic details. After a few pages you will hear yourself using British slang/words

I expected a so-so mystery with like writing, but was happily mistaken.
A nice mystery with an expected ending. In some ways it is similar to other cozies set in this period, but was an entertaining read. With my emphasis on reading mostly history, I enjoy a light novel.
I'll be continuing with this series.

Enjoy this first bk. in a series.
I'm enjoying the entire Daisy series. She is an unusual character for the period. But a spunky gal that I am enjoying. I like that Ms Dunn keeps some of her characters around from book to book as she moves on through her stories, even if it is just a mention.

Meet Daisy Dalrymple.....a very modern minded woman of the 1920s, who wants to make her own way in the world by earning her own living. She has taken a job as a reporter (and photographer) and is doing an article on the famous home of the Earl of Wentwater. She has an advantage....she herself is a member of "the upper class" and is acquainted with all the folks week-ending at Wentwater....including a cad who seems to have a strange hold on the beautiful new bride of the Earl.....the Earl's daughter is infatuated with him, and there are robberies at the homes where he has visited.....Is anyone surprised when he is found dead? Daisy photographed the crime scene and the resulting pictures suggest that the death was not accidental. Daisy proves to be a valuable asset to the good looking Scotland Yard Chief Inspector. I really enjoyed this first book of the series and I fully intend to continue reading them.
