Fremont and Michael are separated by an explosion aboard the train. Fremont is "rescued" by a renegade Mormon who is intent on making Fremont his 6th wife. Her injuries prevent her escaping his compound in the wilds of Utah. Meanwhile, Michael with the help of Meiling Li searches for both Fremont and the person who set the explosives which derailed the train and killed several.
Not as good as the first 3 in the series. Chapters alternates between Fremont's 1st person narrative and Michael's search. These both go on for too long and the ending, when it comes, seems too abrupt.

I read Dianne Day's previous books and enjoyed them. In this book the main characters of Caroline Fremont Jones and her partner, Michael Kossof are hired by the railroad to investigate a series of accidents when the train is blown up and Fremont jones dissappears. The rest of the book deals with her trials and tribulations and Michael's efforts to find her....or her body. Great story, plot and characters. Highly recommend.
