This book is a very detailed account of the few days leading up to the trip to Dallas, the assassination, the aftermath of confusion (lost phone connections) the funeral and the transferring of power. It is very well written. Manchester gives a very good window into what the transfer of power from Kennedy to Johnson looked like; not just the actual transfer, but the emotional and political transfer. It was such an unusual situation because of the trauma and confusion. Although he gets a little carried away in the detail department, ie: who was guarding whom, it is such a good revelation of the country in crisis, especially looking back now after 911. Very interesting historically.
