The story evolves and stays very fresh -- which is a pleasant surprise, because there didn't seem to be anywhere else to go with the plot. Now there's not just a simple Light/Kira vs L battle of wits. Now there are three sides involved, and they're all working against each other. On top of that, a new Shinigami gets involved and adds yet another layer to the plot. And were also starting to see rules for Shinigami, which should make things even more interesting...
