Older novel, first in a series. A traditional British mystery, with interesting characters, especially Chief Inspector Quantrill. An unhappy marriage, too many long hours and his own sense of insecurity make him a sympathetic character. His interaction with a young, upstart detective adds to the overall mood of the story.
