Hamish Macbeth knows the men in Lochdubh are not sorry Randy Duggan is dead but he sorely wishes that it isn't one of the villagers who killed him. He goes to great lengths to find the killer and it leads right back to Priscilla, his former love. Great story and lots of surprises!

This time Hamish Bacbeth has a case involving a mean bully who claimed to be a professional wrestler and who was sneaking around romancing some Lochdubh wives. As always, a fun trip to the Highlands of Scotland and a great read.

This is a cozy set in the colorful Highland village of Lochdubh, featuring the laid-back but highly intelligent local police constable, Hamish Macbeth. He finds that any number of the villagers had motives to murder the bragging, lying bully Randy Duggan who showed up one day and liked entertaining everyone in the pub with his tall tales. Hamish hopes the murderer is from outside, and enlists the help of his sometime girlfriend, the haughty Priscilla Halburton-Smythe to discover the truth. It is a very enjoyable series, with a great setting.

A light and airy read for those of us seeking to lighten up all the while using your noggin to figure out all of the twists and turns in this nifty who-done-it. All the humour, charm and colour of the highlands where newcomers mistakenly think they can hide their dirty little secrets and nasty pasts. Revenge, however comes a calling and our hero PC Hamish MacBeth follows his intuition, fights a broken heart, solves the crime whilst infuriating his superiours again and again. Have some fun and take a look at M. C. Beaton's Hamish MacBeth series.

When Hamish Macbeth, local constable of the Scottish village of Lochdubh, tries to break up one of the many fights involving Randy Duggan, the ruffian challenges him to a fistfight. But on the chosen day, Duggan is found shot to death and Macbeth is rumored to be the likely suspect. Macbeth must find the murderer, clear his name, and restore his Highland paradise to its usual tranquility. This is a light and entertaining cozy mystery which is a look at life in a small Scottish village. Hamish is the sort of character who grows on you. He needs to find out who murdered Randy Duggan in order to save both his career and his life. He is sure that the murder of the Macho Man was a crime of passion. I am now looking forward to another Hamish Macbeth novel. There are plenty more to choose from so that won't be a problem. If you like comedy with your mysteries then you will love this book.
