I gave up on this about a sixth of the way through. I didn't enjoy the author's writing style in which I was somewhat confused about who was saying what to whom, and her use of that tiresome affectation of using blanks for names ("in the bazaar at M______ in India," or "Mrs. D. ______." For H______'s Sake, make up a name. Also one of what seemed to be a major character was an annoying twit and some of the narrative (before even reaching the country house) goes on and on. Otherwise I liked it.
