This book reveals Ginsberg as the insipid Junior High School potty mouth he became (or perhaps always was.) Had this come out before Howl no one would know who Allen was. I read every poem in the book and it was a torturous chore. All in all I would rather have been water boarded. Do not allow Ginsbergs later work to sour you to the beats.
