This book has many errors in punctuation & spelling but it's still a moving book. A story of an abused child that is truly horrific and heart-wrenching.

I hated how the authors chose to act as if Ursula's "thoughts" were fact when in reality they were nothing more than pure speculation. I only got a few pages in before I gave up. Apparently a lot of the real facts are taken from testimony and transcripts but the authors come right out and say Ursula's "thoughts and voice" are made up. One can guess that the authors aren't probably far off but the key word there for me is > 'probably'.
There are a great many books on the subject that do use real words and real thoughts, made known to someone/people prior to death that can be read.
If you're going to read this be prepared because the authors don't attempt to make it "normal". They're attempting to get people angry. IMO, this isn't needed. The kind of person reading this book is angry already. Ursula died at the hands of her parents. That's enough! Don't attempt to use your own thoughts to make me more angry.
Add to that to the typos and grammatical errors and it's all over.

This is based on a true story that happened in Florida, this book is so emotional it was all I could do to get through it. Told from the perspective of the child being abused and killed, it was heart wrenching to read and made me alternate between crying and being so mad I wanted to jump into the book itself to try to save her. That no one intervened, from the teachers at school, to the neighbors, to friends who suspected what was happening, to children and passersby who saw her standing under that tree all day but most horrifying of all, her own mother!!! well...no excuse! Such a sad short life she had.
This book was written to show how child abuse is such a hidden crime, others don't want to feel like they are intruding on another family's business but come on people! You are all guilty of this little girls death! Turning your head and looking the other way doesn't make it go away or mean it isn't happening.
The last part of this book is chock full of information on not only child abuse, but domestic, sexual, and emotional abuse, the signs of and what to do to help. This not only a very emotional book meant to get your attention but to teach you what to do when you suspect or know abuse is happening. I believe this book was long overdue!
