Really interesting essays on space. It filled in a lot of blank areas in my knowledge of the universe (spectrometry, etc.), keeps the religion-science battles out of it until the end.
A great book way to learn about the wonders of modern astronomy for the layperson. Though the book is a collection of about forty essays, it does have a nice flow to it. My only criticism is that the essays towards the end of the book tend to be a little preachy and nitpicky about the portrayal of astronomy in media and film and the debate of science vs. religion.
