Second in the series & as good as the first. I am really enjoying these books. The main character has strength, gumption, class and sensitivity. The setting, a small English village during WWII, provides a nice backdrop and the author includes a lot of period details. An all around good story.

This is the second book in the "Manor House" mysteries. Kate Kingsbury is a good author and has written at least one other mystery series. They're definitely "lighter" mysteries.

Second in a series of cozy myseries about life on the homefront in England during the Second World War. A German pilot bails out near the village and escapes. When a woman is murdered shortly thereafter, the conclustion seems inescapable. But is the obvious true? Lady Elizabeth isn't so sure.

Kingsbury WWII period mystery series keeps grabbing your attention. Think of BBC productions and imagine the same attention to detail in writing. The mystery isn't bad either! A cozy to be enjoyed.

I was so glad when I discovered this series by Kate Kingsbury. A friend of mine likes her Victorian Hotel series, but I prefer this one. I have all of the series to date and will post them here as I finish reading them. If you love WWII England, British "cozies" and atmosphere, you'll like this book.

This second of the series has yet another young girl killed and this time a German airman on the run is the everyone's chief suspect. Yet, Lady Elizabeth isn't totally convinced he is the murderer.

This is another short, entertaining cozy that you can finish in a day.

I won't give away the very ending (after the murderer was exposed) but the author made a mistake when she has a character state that The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show was on American TV in the early 40s. George and Gracie didn't move to TV until 1950.

A German bomber pilot is seen parachuting out of his plane over the village of Sitting Marsh.....Then the body of a local girl is found murdered....Lady Elizabeth is not as sure as the rest of the villagers that the escaped Nazi is the guilty party, and she is committed to find the truth......There are tensions between the British and American soldiers and in addition to sleuthing, Lady Elizabeth is determined to ease those tensions by hosting a "get to know each other" dance.....with the expected results....her attraction for Major Earl Monroe continues to grow, even though he is a married man.....this is a wonderful series.......
