I LOVE Dearest Dorothy!! If you enjoy the Mitford books by Jan Karon, you should like this one, too. Small town setting, unique, lovable (well, mostly!) characters, with faith as their saving grace.
Easy reading, but not shallow, IMO. Just the right thing for a "mental vacation". :-)
