A sweet, at times whimsical story of friendship, love, and loss during WWII, or more specifically, when London was being tormented by Nazi bombs. Not too terrifying, but you get the first hand experience.
A short novel, a fast read -- the style is a little twee for my taste, and it's got a sitcom ending, but it has some good things in it too -- the courage of the British people under attack; the friendships that sustain women; the decency and responsibility of their men. I would recommend it, especially to a YA reader; it might give them a feeling as to what their great grandparents went through, what their values were and what it took to survive.
