It can be read as a standalone so that is not a problem. The setting, characters, and plot were intriguing enough to keep me turning the pages until the very end. If you like Golden Age mystery with a timeless fears of a child's abduction, then you will love this one. I would like to thank NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for a copy for an honest review.
