This is a nice story. It's not my favorite Nicholas Sparks...but worth reading.
Story bring tears to your eyes at times. Story of a soldier that falls in love on leave. Also touches on autism in an adult. Definitely recommend this one.
This is a love story of a young couple, the boy goes off to war. There are many interesting turns for both of them.
John meets Savannah on the beach while he is home on leave and it is love at first sight. The story takes us through the angst of geographically separated lovers, separated further by the events of 9/11.
I feel like I've read this story before. If you've read any of Sparks' other books, you've read Dear John. That being said, he is still an excellent writer and this book was an easy read.

So great! It had me in tears.
Ok, So the only reason that i am giving this book a 3 1/2 star is ONLY because I did not like the way it ended. Not that it ended badly, it just didn't end the way I would have chosen it to. Although, I was hooked on the story from the very beginning and it was a great book the whole way through just like all of Nicholas Sparks books are. Nicholas Sparks is a FANTASTIC author, that i why all his books get made into movies. This one won't dissappoint, (unless you want it to end the way i did too). Great fast read!!
Nicholas Sparks is a great writer. An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love--and face the hardest decision of his life.
A solider home on leaqve meets the love of his life unfortunately he has to return to duty in Germany. Loneiness, separation and selfishness prove to be the force thar drives the lovers in different directions.
It was a tear jerker. I absolutely loved it.
Got this audiobook in a lot off Ebay and didn't think it would appeal to me but I gave it a shot and really enjoyed it. Funny how well Sparks writes the misunderstandings men and women have. And actually I tended to relate to the woman more. She seemed to have more of a grip on reality. Anyway, give this one a shot. It'll make your eyes leak ;)
excellent love his books
