Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis is about the power of friendship and the importance of having someone believe in you. One friendship of this book has elements of an unhealthy relationship - some of Lucas's choices and Emmy's dependence on him. Overall though, a story that starts off in a teenager's darkness ends up sweet and charming. The lasting impression... Everyone should have a friend like Balloon Boy in their life.
