Yes, parts of this book ARE graphic, but it's intended for young women, not children.
As parents, we can always decide if it's age appropriate for the intended reader.
My daughter felt she benefitted from some sections as they covered topics she wanted more information about, but wasn't as comfortable asking about. She liked the young person's perspective, as she "tuned in" easily.
It covers body changes, boys and girls, body image, peer pressure, PMS and periods, sexual urges, nutrition, contraception to dealing with your family and siblings...etc. Internet resources for topics ranging from nutrition to politics, adoption to skin care are included.
I felt it was an empowering book for my teenage daughter, but it's not for everyone.

For teens this book offers a whole new approach for dealing with your life as a girl. It's a resource to help you lear about, laugh about and figure out the stuff you go through on your way through life. It won't tell you what to do, because you'll need to decide that for yourself. But, whether you're wondering about your body, your feelings, or your changing relationships with the people around youm this book provides accurate information and outlines of your options. HIlarious illustrations point out the humor in even the sorriest situations. And with hundreds of excerpts from real-girl conversations on the gURL.com website, you can see for real that whatever you're going through you're not alone.

My father got me this book when I was around 14-15 after it was revealed that I was going to be a difficult teenager. It's a very useful book for girls going through the angst of puberty - there's a slew of information on all sorts of things. It covers a wide variety of topics thoroughly and graphically - I highly recommend it to teenagers everywhere.
