The Dead Romantics was definitely a "Bookstagram made me do it" read, and I'm so glad! This novel is so unique, it's challenging to describe it well.

The plot combines death and a romance using witty sarcastic dialogue - are you intrigued yet? It also includes lots of secrets, interesting family dynamics among parents and siblings, and a Sixth Sense element.

Florence Day's family operates a mortuary in a small Southern town so death is the family business. Just when her very successful ghostwriting career is in jeopardy, her beloved father dies, bringing her home for the first time in 10 years. His funeral plan includes several "interesting" components, and while Florence is assembling them, she encounters the last person she expected to see in the most unusual way.

I really enjoyed the audiobook narrated by Eileen Stevens who infused these quirky characters with charm and personality.

While some of Ashley Poston's books are YA, The Dead Romantics is a contemporary romance. Her next novel, The Seven Year Slip, is currently scheduled to release in late June 2023. Yes please!
