First book in Tim Myers latest series centered around a family owned soapmaking shop. As usual, Myers has a crop of interesting characters and infuses the plot with tidbits about how to make soap ( his other series deal with candlemaking and running an inn). A good cozy mystery.

THIS WAS A NICE LIGHT MYSTERY THAT REMINDS ME OF THE OLD NANCY DREW BOOKS I READ AS A GIRL.IT IS A SOAPMAKING MYSTERYWITH INFO ABOUT THAT WOVEN INTO THE STORY LINE.
Helpful Score: 3
A fast read, lots of soapmaking tidbits. Not the best written book in the world though...
It took me awhile to warm up to the characters in this murder mystery. The author's style isn't very descriptive. I would like more description of the scenes in the book. It's a bit plain and get's right to the point. Some relief arrived when Kelly became Ben's love interest. I'll read the next book in the series with some hope.

Great series- It is about a family soap making business. The oldest must take care of the family if it means solving a murder.

I love this series. All of his stuff is very clean, cozy and good.
I love his candle series and this one didn't let me down. Nice relaxing read.
I've read books from 3 or 4 different series by this author, and I must admit that most of them leave me gritting my teeth at his overbearing characterizations.
This one is the exception. I only rolled my eyes in exasperation a couple of times ... for the most part, the characters were level-headed and believable. Bravo to Tim Myers for finally getting it right.

Loved this book. The Perkins own the Soapmaking Shop. When there is a death at the back door to the shop Ben is expected to solve the mystery. His sister was dating the man who was killed and the police are looing at her as the one who did it. This is going to be a great series and I plan to ready them all. Loved the characters and the story line. Recommend!!!! Barbara
As a cozy mystery it is a good read. If you are interested in learning about soap-making this isn't the book for you though. Soap-making definitely takes a backseat.
Was a fast read, characters weren't well defined, plot was typical for a cozy.
