2nd in the series and I've enjoyed both books though mainly for reading about the crochet! I really don't care for the main character though she's not really bad - just don't identify with her or her life. She's a widow with 2 grown sons - one treats her like she's an idiot child and the other is an idiot child who uses her...and a hunky detective who wants marriage and she's wanting her independence. unfortunately the crochet group members act just like some fellow quilters I know with the bickering, competitiveness and jockeying for head honcho! The mystery itself is typical of the first - where the cop just 'knows' who did it and spend the whole time trying to prove their theory correct instead of fully investigating the murder so it's up to Pink to figure it all out. The author is good about having several characters with motivation to keep the reader guessing.

Molly Pink, who promotes the bookstore, is part of a group of crocheters who refer to themselves as the Tarzana Hookers. The group, co-led by Mollys jealous co-worker Adele, meet in the bookstore to create charity projects. Shawls for abused women is the groups current project.

One anxiety ridden member, Sheila, has consigned several of her scarves to a local gift shop. When the owner dies, the sons take over and her commission is cut. Molly and company convince Sheila to confront Drew Brooks, one of the sons, but the day Sheila does, Drew is bashed over the head with a paperweight from his office.

A fun mystery, Dead Men Dont Crochet has an interesting cast of characters, from insecure Adele who feels the need to compete with Molly at work while outlandishly dressed, to Mollys ever true friend Diana who has been saddled with her ex-husbands two children.

The character of Molly should be more forceful in gettin Barry to understand the type of relationship she is interested in. The charming attorney Mason appears on the scene again and resparks some interest in Molly. The mystery is pretty straight forward, and readers will find the plot enjoyable and see once again how everything turns out for the Tarzana Hookers.

I found this book more annoying than the 1st one. I thought many of the interactions with the other people were just reaking of adults who have no boundries and really dont like each other. All of the relationships were just impossible to believe real adults do those things. But yes I will read the next one.

I really loved this second installment. Molly is priceless as an amateur detective. I like her style, and I especially love the shenanigans she gets into when looking for clues. I was laughing out loud at quite a few parts. The supporting characters are all really interesting and colorful in their own right.

The only downside, for me, is Barry - Molly's sort of boyfriend. To me, he seems overbearing and territorial. I get annoyed when Molly doesn't stand up to him - or, better yet, tell him to take a hike! However, the book's focus is not her relationship. So, I can overlook the few scenes in which he appears.

The pattern included in this book is actually pretty good, too. Although very simple/basic in terms of skill level and stitches ... it would make an interesting piece with the right yarn. I think I'll be making it as a Yule gift for my grandmother.

5 stars for this one. I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.
