I love the descriptions of backwoods Maine and its Maine-ish characters in this author's books. This entry in the Bowditch series just barely held my attention, though. It consists of alternating chapters, with one thread describing Bowditch's efforts to survive severe natural and human threats and the other thread describing what happened to lead up to Mike being in such danger. Not suspenseful enough for me to recommend it highly.
