I liked the heroine, who is a deaf newspaper publisher in the Sierra woodlands. She's real, she has a sense of humor about her disability, she's a middle-aged person making big changes in her life and doing the best she can. I think this is a mystery where it's not designed so you can work out whodunnit, but then I might just be dense!
