I started reading this series mainly because I liked the dairy farm. Stella is an interesting tough cookie. But the farther Stella gets from the farm the less I like her. This one, which moves around Philadelphia a lot, left me mostly cold. I really liked the beginning - we know that something is wrong with Nick, but we don't know what, and Stella's anxiety about it raises the tension. The bomb threat in the theater and the chaos afterwards is great, and we can feel sorrow for the victim. But when the police start looking at her friend Jordan, and Stella starts investigating herself, I was dubious. Why did she focus so much on how and when the drummer got replaced? It was necessary for the plot, but I didn't see any real-life reason for it. Her actions to Lucy are almost nasty. This is her "best friend" getting married, she's the maid of honor, and she refuses to wear a dress? She says - and she means it - that Lucy is betraying her by leaving? And her actions to Nick, that was just ugly including her explanation at the end. The character has been this way from the start, but I'm liking it less and less. There are six in this series (so far) and I have the last two on my TBR shelf so I'll probably read them, but I gotta say Stella may be as loyal as they come, but a little kindness goes a long way.
