First let me mention about how much I love the cover of this book, the coloring especially is just to die for it is so pretty. So far almost every historical fiction that I have read from Tracie Peterson I have enjoyed and this one is no different on that enjoyment scale. It may not be as non stop fabulous as the Yukon Quest, but it in a different manner it is better at the same time. Reading the book blurb as an expectant reader you can assume certain things of the plot line and story to occur and wonder how they unfold and what will happen next, but this novel is so much more in depth with twists and turns and much more plot than the blurb even begins to imply.
The best of Christ's beginning love is shown through in the characters and they learn and grow. Evil is still present as ever in some characters as is always in the writing of Tracie Peterson in a way that is very real as uncomfortable as that may seen. What is fabulous is the way that even with so many bad things that can possibly occur all the good that God can bring out of it. With emotions running, and pages not turning fast enough if you ever have enjoyed some of the work of this author before you will be glad to read this new novel that does not disappoint. If you have yet to read Tracie's books, this is a great place to start. I highly recommend her. This book is a great start to a new series and I cannot wait for the next one.

I enjoyed reading this book. It has a good story line with both suspense and a little romance. My only complaint is that I felt her spiritual journey as well as her relationship with the lead guy came together too quickly and seemed underdeveloped. Overall I would recommend this book if your looking for an enjoyable, light read.
This is a historical Christian romance by Tracie Peterson. As always, she gives rich descriptions of the scenery of her settings and there is a central biblical theme of the book. This book focuses on Lydia, who has been badly treated by her first husband and his family. She is trying to start a new life in Alaska, and is afraid to hope for a new future, to trust anyone or to trust in the Lord. The book describes Kansas City and Alaska.
Great Book
The thing that stood out for me in this book was the author's beautiful writing style. The storyline caught the readers attention immediately, then held it rapt through all the twists and turns of the plot while keeping an almost lyrical feel to the words being written. The only downside was some of those twists and turns were a little beyond the fray of even suspended belief. [possible spoiler alert] Repeated situations such as the "kidnapping" where nothing was done about it, when any normal person would be tearing the world apart until proof was found, made parts of this otherwise delightful read a little hard to accept.
Another wonderful book by this author! It was late in the day when I first started reading this book. Unfortunately for me, I did not have a change to pick it up again the next day, but when I did the following day, I finished the last 270 before going to bed. Lots of twists and turns to keep you turning those pages. Can't wait to read the next in this series.
