By Dawn's Early Light is a political suspense novel of an apocalyptic nature. The story takes place in Russia, Israel and the United States. Although it is billed as a sequel to Flee the Darkness, it is most certainly a stand-alone novel, and can be read and thoroughly enjoyed without reading the first novel.
I really like the hero, Michael Reed, a former Navy SEAL and close friend of the US president. He is a solid man of integrity, leadership and courage. He is also kind and caring, but those qualities arent immediately noticeable at the first of the story. Devorah Cohen is the heroine. There is much more to her than is apparent at the first meeting of these two characters. It is definitely not love at first sight.
There are also some great secondary characterssome likeable and some very distasteful. They do add depth and richness to the story.

The writing duo of Jeffrey/Hunt work quite well together. One seems to provide the "fact" end of it while the other provides the "detail" end of it. The story was good, and read quite quickly and easily. My only "downer" in the book at all is that to me, it seemed a bit easy to predict the next step... but then again, it really could just be me! :) They colaborated on another book as well called, "Flee the Darkness" and that was another good one as well. I would recommend them both!
