Intense novel about two Australian sisters who serve as military nurses in Europe during WWI. Keneally bring the horror and the perversity of modern warfare into play as he follows the women, reveals a harsh secret standing between them, and then in the last few pages begins to play switcheroo with the reader. Whether he is making a point about the randomness of life, or playing with some experimental form remains unclear. Few readers will be indifferent to the stylish affectation, however.

//Thought it was just an ok read. Nothing great but not horrible. The ending was different which got you thinking how you would like for it to have ended.
