A surprisingly wonderful book. It starts a bit slow, but really draws you in and keeps you turning the pages - if you have the patience for a very gentle, relaxed style of storytelling. This book has a little of everything - war stories, intrigues, romance, betrayal, a murder mystery and cultural and social exploration - all set on a tropical island. Sounds kitchsy and cutie, but it really isn't. Highly recommended!
