I had owned this book for many years but had never read it until a few days ago. I finished it in two nights and was left wanting for more.
It was great to see Tristan come into his own while banding together the Ffolk and keeping relations with his friends Robyn and Daryth who are also good people with nicely developed character traits. Not to dismiss Canthus the moorhound who I found to be one of the best companions to a character in a fantasy novel ever.
5 stars from me. The first novel set in the Forgotten Realms and my only regret is that I hadn't read it 10+ years ago when I first bought it.

A cursed denizen of an ancient era again walks the islands of the Moonshaes, and the sacred realm of the Goddess Earthmother shudders under its vile onslaught.
Abold but reckless prince, a beautiful young druidess, and their companions both magical and mortal do their best to protect their cherished homeland.
If only their best was good enough.

The first book set in the Forgotten Realms. A basic story of Good vs. Evil, it sets the stage for the Moonshae Trilogy. From the back cover: "A cursed denizen of an ancient era again walks the islands of the Moonshaes, and the sacred realm of the Goddess Earthmother shudders under its vile onslaught. A bold but reckless prince, a beautiful young druidess, and their companions both magical and mortal do their best to protect their cherished homeland. If only their best was good enough."
