Author: John Saul

Here folks live by their own rules -- dark rites of altars and infants, candles and blood. — Years ago the Andersons left town with a dream. Now they are back. To live out a nightmare. Something has been waiting...  more »

I had no idea what was coming next and couldn't wait to find out. I was almost sad when I was done reading it, I wasn't ready for it to be done.

Quick read. View of Florida swamps in a john Saul way with more than snakes and animals.

This is the only BOOK to ever give me nightmares. I first read it in high school when it was a new release and I still remember how chilling it was. Horror readers will delight and if you're new to this author - pick up a bunch more, the older the better!

i loved this book! it's eccentric plot certainly kept me up reading it! Its definitely a thriller and i would recommend reading it if you're into scary books!

I had requested this audiobook because I am familiar with the author, and have enjoyed his books in the past. I personally don't think this one qualifies as a "Horror" novel, it is more like a scary mystery! This book will not scare you - unless you are about 6 or 7, what it does impart is sense of urgency to find out who is who, who is good, and who is bad.

The setting (Florida everglades /swamp) helps convey a sense of forboding as you know there are alligators, crocodiles, snakes, and other creepy/crawly things. I think that in another author's hands this book would not have been as enjoyable, so "Hats off to Saul"

I recommend this book to "mystery/thriller" fans for the fact that it holds your attention, there is a lot of suspence, with a gripping plotline.

It's a good way to pass a 3 hour commute (exactly what I needed for 1 day)
