Summary: Bound by the demon of doubt, Sabin unintentionally destroys even the most confident of lovers. So the immortal warrior spends his time on the battlefield instead of the bedroom, victory his only concernâ¦until he meets Gwendolyn the Timid. One taste of the beautiful redhead, and he craves more. Gwen, an immortal herself, always thought she'd fall for a kind human who wouldn't rouse her darker side. But when Sabin frees her from prison, battling their enemies for the claim to Pandora's box turns out to be nothing compared to the battle Sabin and Gwen will wage against loveâ¦

First off....let me say when I saw Nyx (see Kresley Cole) in this book walking though Buda...I squealed like a little girl and got crazy excited, especially since Torin was instantly attracted, you know what that means. We have reached the point where Gena Showalter is starting to bleed her plot a bit...we are seeing more of the other characters perspectives in this book than in the others, and I like it. I like Sabin's take charge sort of character but I felt that the conflict between himself and his female, Gwen, was a bit forced...like Showalter was just trying to put something in there quickly to give them some sort of conflict. This book started and ended well...it flowed throughout and there was no tedious catch-up for days. Over all not too bad a read, I am excited for the next book in this series...hopefully we will see more of Nyx.

4 stars for this one. Very good book despite some major issues.

This is the story of Sabin, keeper of Doubt, and how he comes to know and love a Harpy named Gwen. Gwen struggles with a battle to be normal, constantly battling her dark side while worrying that she is not as brave or strong as her older harpy sisters. This uncertainty intitially leads Sabin to believe that they can't be together, despite the fiery attraction between them, because his demon makes people doubt themselves to the point of depression. However, Gwen's strength and will begin to grow even as the love between them grows.

Gwen probably the weakest part of this book. She started out helpless and I don't mind that in a heroine, if I see her improving througout the story. She does (somewhat) but in the end, at the crucial moment of the conflict she chokes completely. Without giving too much away, I'll just say that some of her actions left the overall impression of a character who is not as well developed and strong as she should be.

I felt the romance was adequate. I really liked Sabin, and I felt he grew and matured in the developement of the relationship, which is good to see. That pretty much made up for aforementioned slightly annoying heroine. I also like that the couples from the previous books were revisited a tiny bit. Plus we see more developement with Aeron and Paris. Really makes me look forward to future books.

Overall, if you liked the previous books this one is well worth the read.

Sabin, keeper of Doubt, merciless warrior, driven leader and all-round badass. Gwendolyn the Timid, poster child for the self-esteem challenged, current captive and all-round victim. And they fall for each other so hard it registers on the Richter scale. This is a pairing worthy of Nina Bangs' Sparkle Stardust, the cosmic troublemaker who specializes in creating sexual havoc by matching total opposites [to their eventual delight] to watch the fireworks.

Gwen is a Harpy - who is afraid of her 'inner Harpy' and equally afraid of her lack of Harpy qualities. Sabin avoids women because his demon, Doubt, damages his lovers even to the point of suicide.

Plot-wise [meaning the overall plot of the series] we don't seem to advance much; but I suspect considerable grounds were laid for future books. Comic interest is provided by Gwen's sisters who can almost approve of her choice - after all he's a bloodthirsty warrior with the social skills of a piranha. Some revelations and truly heart wrenching moments are provided by the other Lords...

This latest installment in the LOTU series is a great read. I have loved every book in this series & this one lived up to the standard. I could not put it down!! Sabin's story has everything you would want...love, tragedy, sexual tension, comic relief, mystery, etc...the story moves fast & always keeps you wanting more...Hopefully Ms Showalter will keep writing about the Lords...I will never tire of reading about their exploits.

I can't wait till the next story comes out...thankfully January is not that far away at the time this review was written!

Enjoy!!!

Wow... Gena Showalter does not disappoint in her latest Lords of the Underworld installment. Sabin is the bad boy of the Lords, and he's not afraid to show it. Of course... his world gets turned upside down when Gwen the harpy comes into his life. Sabin and Gwen are both awesome in their own rights. Easily as good as the other LOTU books, Sabin and Gwen's story kept me wondering every step of the way how the two seemingly opposites could make things work out. Showalter did an amazing job at unraveling their story and included several sidebar chapters on some of the other Lords who haven't had their limelight yet (I can't wait for more Lords!). If you liked the other LOTU books, then you definitely won't be disappointed.

Honestly, when compared with her Atlantis series - the Lords of the Underworld are by far the better!!! Her Atlantis series is practically neanderthalian in plot.

Sabin, the bearer of Doubt and the leader of the immortal warriors who had once decided to fight against the humans who killed his friend the bearer of Distrust, has rejoined with Lucien and the warriors who no longer wished to fight the human Hunters. Sabin has long since given up on ever finding a woman, since his demon often sends them running due to doubts about themselves. But all of that begins to change when he finds and frees a group of immortal females who are imprisoned by the human Hunters. All but one have been raped and impregnated so that when they give birth, the children will be taken from their mother to be raised and trained as immortal Hunters.

The only one who has not been raped is a small insecure harpy. Now harpy's are supposed to be mean, ugly and foul, right? Apparently not. They are only thought to be that way because 1) they are strong and incredibly fast, 2) they have volitile tempers, 3) the are blood thirsty, and 4) the only way they can survive is by either stealing their food or earning it. So why is this one little harpy so insecure? She half angel.(or so they believe.)

But sabin soon learns there is more to this little harpy than meets the eye. And the demon of Doubt learns that it is not always best to make a harpy nervous, jealous or upset!

So far I am loving this particular series of hers. This one is about Sabin, the keeper of Doubt. I am actually horrible at reviews, but I can tell you that I have this book already - I realized that when I was in about 1 1/2 chapters, but it is so good that I continued reading it to the end.

OMG! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE BOOKS! Amazing characters, amazing stories! Takes the reader into the exciting world of paranormal warriors, possessed by demon lords that were once housed within Pandora's box. Can the warriors who hold within them such demons as secrets, violence, and pain control their urges and find happiness? Absolutely ASTOUNDING! A must read for everyone! Gena Showalter is a mind-boggling, creative genius!

Great story of Sabin and Gwen. The people associated with Sabin and Gwen are each others enemy. The relationship is tested time and again. The ultimate test is for Sabin and Gwen in the last chapter of the book. This definitely sets the storyline for future books in the series.

Really liked this book. After book 3, Reyes story, I wasn't so sure I wanted to continue reading the series. This book reinvigorated my interest. I didn't expect to care for Sabin and had put off reading this book for several weeks. I loved Sabin, I loved Gwen - she's a really strong heroine. I also really enjoyed the way Showalter wove other characters into the story. We saw Anya and William and Lucian quite a bit. We also learned a lot more about Gideon, Paris, Aeron, Cameo, and Torin - a la JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. They had many pages dedicated to exposition on them and their stories - just making me anxious to learn what will become of them in the future. Way to get a girl hooked, Gena Showalter! Definitely a keeper!

Holy crap this book was amazing! Continuous action from the first page right up until the stunning ending. I immediately felt sorry for Gwen and wanted to see her connect with Sabin, the Keeper of Doubt, who also has it rough. I really liked Sabin and Gwen is just perfect for him. Her harpy is the perfect complement to Doubt. The sex scenes are very intense and rough though not kinky - they just go after each other like animals.

I love the ongoing battle with Galen and the Hunters but man are they vicious and evil. It's ironic how fanatics are more evil than the ones they are persecuting. The battle draws out the goodness in these demon-possessed immortals. I love all the Lords but can't wait to read Torin's story. It'll be very interesting to see how Ms. Showalter gets around the whole plague thing.

Sabin's story. I didn't enjoy it as much as her other 3; I think I missed the humor that I was in the other books. But Sabin is such a serious, intense character, I suppose the light humor wasn't appropriate. Darkest Kiss is still my favorite b/c of Anya's antics. There were alot of supporting characters in this book, and some new additions that I know we will be seeing in the upcoming books. I just think she had a lot of ground to cover to lay the footwork for the next ones and hope that is the reason I didn't enjoy it as much. I typically have so much fun with her books! I still gave it 3.5...

Definitely worth reading and hopefully you will enjoy it!

I completely enjoy this writer. I love the story of undeniable love that you can't get away from. How each of the worriers work through their personal demons and make it work is a great unfolding story. I can never guess the ending. This is a great read. I look forward to the next in the series.

Really liked the characters, especially Gwen. Enjoyed it more than Book 2. The take on Harpies is interesting and thought the addition of Gwen's sisters to the story line was a good move. Very entertaining.

Sabin, Lord keeper of Doubt and the Harpy... I was excited to read this. It was a very fast paced read with a lot of action compared to some of the others in this series. I loved their relationship. I just wish there was a hell of a lot more of that steamy sex that went on. A litle more pleaseeeee....

Keeper of Doubt, Sabin, went to Egypt to find artifacts but came back to Buda with a Harpy, Gwen, that has been held prisoner by the Hunters for over a year. She was captured to be used to help spawn a new breed of Hunters, Immortal Hunters. She was one of 12 women that was raped, tortured, and drugged to get her to submit to them, but with her being a fierce Harpy nothing worked and she was saved from the Hunters in a way but still tortured. Until the pyramid was taken down by warriors that took out all her guards, scientist and other dirt bag Hunters. Now in Buda Sabin wants her for his army but his 'friend' trying to break her down with doubts but the fragile Harpy knows how to beat doubt back into the corner. Gwen's father will come into focus with Sabin and the Lords since he is a key player with them and the box. Gideon we will see a hint into his mind with what happened when he was caught and held for months. Poor Alum from the beginning we see how much he suffers with his demon and its not in a good way. Even poor Paris is still outraged over his loss of Sierra and his in depression and drinking himself numb but also hes taking straight up ambrosia to make him really numb and Aeron has to get Paris to come to terms with his loss until his finds out what Paris did to save him. Lost of secrets are reveled and lost of suffering also for many of the Lords.
